One of the great strengths of the Chamber is its diversity of members – the companies (from global corporates to SMEs and start-ups), the range of industry sectors (private sector, not-for-profit, government and education), and the people that attend our events (age/gender/nationality). A great success story has been the Young Professionals initiative. Each quarter we’ve hosted 150+ young professionals in Australia House, who have had the opportunity to hear from special guest speakers that have ‘informed & inspired’. On every occasion we have had the support by way of a special welcome address from the Australian High Commissioner, Stephen Smith, and attendance by the Deputy High Commissioner, who are both passionate about facilitating opportunities for this group of future leaders. We have our special end-of-year event planned for Wednesday, December 4 at 6:00pm, and will have another inspiring special guest. The theme of the evening will be ‘Ngurra’ – a word appearing in many different Aboriginal languages across Australia meaning ‘home’, ‘a place of belonging’ and ‘a place of inclusion’ – which is something that we feel we have created over the past year with this network.
Whilst targeting the Young Professionals, we are age inclusive, so if you feel like a ‘Young Professional,’ the welcome mat is there for you!

Marr Contracting | Award winning crane services
Marr Contracting has been awarded the contract to deliver specialised heavy lifting crane services on the construction of HS2 Old Oak Common Station superstructure. “Drawing on Marr’s experience in successfully delivering similar projects in Australia, we have demonstrated that there is an alternative approach to projects of this scale that is safer and more efficient. We are excited to introduce our technology, which has only recently become readily available in the UK, to this project” said Steve Ryder, General Manager – International, Marr Contracting. Expected onsite from early 2025, the cranage solution will help to drive productivity and improve safety on the project |

28th October |Mobility & Mutual Recognition Under the A-UKFTA Roundtable
The Chamber hosted a roundtable discussion, in collaboration with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the Innovation and Early Careers Skills Exchange Pilot (IECSEP) visa pathway and mobility under the Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement (A-UKFTA).
The IECSEP (https://lnkd.in/gTSayh-n) offers two streams: the Early Careers Stream, allowing placements for up to one year, and the Innovation Stream, which supports experienced professionals for up to three years.

10th October | Future Leader Series
The Chamber proudly hosted the first event of the Future Leader Series, in partnership with CPA Australia, bringing together a group of aspiring leaders for an evening of inspiration and networking at Australia House.
Australian Deputy High Commissioner Elisabeth Bowes PSM and Catherine Riney FCPA from CPA Australia delivered opening remarks.
The event featured an engaging panel discussion with guest speakers Kristy Eden-Green FCPA from the Bank of England and Christopher Crellin FCPA from Sony Music Entertainment UK & Ireland.
Guided by Lucy Hamnett from Accenture, the session explored the speakers' journeys from early career stages to becoming influential leaders in their fields. They discussed the challenges they encountered and the opportunities they embraced along the way.
The evening concluded with closing remarks from Kayne Bell from CPA Australia and a networking session.
