Did someone say it’s almost March? 2025 is well and truly up and running. Two recent Chamber events are worth highlighting as they demonstrate the strong value of this vibrant membership organisation.
The Energy Sustainability event held earlier this month featured a keynote address from the UK Minister Sarah Jones MP (Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero, and Business and Trade), our High Commissioner, and an expert panel made up of senior leaders from BHP, Macquarie, Worley, and Herbert Smith Freehills and closing remarks from NAB. The conversation was both engaging and informative.
This was also true of a smaller roundtable event which focused on the opportunities through a collaboration between higher education and the private sector. This was facilitated by RMIT University and hosted by Robert Walters, with the discussion touching on the importance of leveraging the capabilities and innovation found within academic institutions.
Our membership group includes many incredible thought leaders, and it is important for the Chamber to provide a forum for meaningful discussion.
This month, we also formally welcomed Worley as Gold Partners to the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce. This is a great level of commitment, and we are looking forward to working more closely with Worley on their key priority areas.
A special thanks to our members who continue to suggest ideas for future topics and events – we love it when our members ‘lean in’ and help us develop activities.

11th February |Energy Sustainability - Updated from UK Minister Sarah Jones
In collaboration with National Australia Bank and BHP, the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a breakfast event discussing the UK Government's strategies for energy security and achieving net zero. The event featured opening remarks from Hon. Stephen Smith, Australian High Commissioner to the UK, and a keynote from Sarah Jones MP, Minister of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. A panel discussion moderated by Helen Beatty of Herbert Smith Freehills included insights from Mark Dooley from Macquarie, Darryn Quayle from Worley, and Jared Kuehl from BHP.

13th February | Collaboration: Challenges and Opportunities Roundtable
The Chamber, RMIT University, and Robert Walters recently hosted a roundtable bringing together leaders from the private sector and higher education.
